You're about to join us for a virtual training using Zoom - congratulations! We work hard to make sure our trainings are valuable and that we use your time wisely. To be respectful of attendees’ time, we ask that you start to log on 15 minutes prior to the meeting start time to account for any technical issues and to take attendance.

Finding the Zoom Link

There are two different ways that you can locate the Zoom meeting link on your computer. You can choose to join using whichever method you prefer:

  1. Registrants will receive an email in advance of the training from the DMH-UCLA Prevention Center of Excellence containing a link to the Zoom meeting and instructions for joining. You may want to check your Spam folder if you are unable to locate it. (Note: If prerequisites are required for your training, the instructions will be sent only if they are completed)

  2. Visit the training overview page (LEARN > My Learning > Virtual Trainings) and click "View my registration". Click the “Join webinar” button that will appear 15 minutes before the meeting.

Important: Please use a modern browser such as Google Chrome, Safari or Explorer to join the meeting. Opening the link in another environment like VMWare or MyPC has been known to cause issues using Zoom. If you need to access your email in that type of environment, please copy the link from the email and paste it into the web browser on your desktop.

Joining the Meeting

If you have a working camera and microphone on your desktop, this is the easiest way to join the meeting. If you do not have a camera and microphone on your desktop, but you do on your phone, you can instead install the Zoom app on your phone and join from there.

Join from your desktop computer

When you attempt to join the meeting, you may be asked for some information for attendance purposes such as your name and employee ID. Be sure to use your real name so that you receive credit for any required training.

Depending on the method you use to join the meeting, a small number of folks may be prompted for a password. Please use the password found in the reminder email.

At this point, you will likely be placed in a waiting room while the hosts verify your registration and any prerequisites if applicable. This may take a little time, but the hosts will let you in once they have verified this information and are ready to start the training. There is nothing further to do on your end at this point and the meeting will start automatically once the hosts have admitted you.

Join from your phone

Zoom’s Joining a Meeting Guide contains step-by-step instructions on how to join from any device including your phone. Please note, however, that you will have to install the app on your phone rather than just joining by dialing the phone number as a camera is required for some trainings. Please check your confirmation email for your session's requirements.

Having trouble joining?

Here are some common reasons we see folks unable to join the meeting:

If you have not completed the prerequisites by the deadline, the hosts will not provide the Zoom invitation and you will need to reschedule for another date on the training page.

Still waiting to be let in

The hosts will let folks in as they verify that prerequisites have been completed, if applicable. This may take a little bit, but please email us at support@wellbeing4la.org if you are still waiting after 15 minutes or more.

Stuck on Zoom's loading screen

We see folks get stuck on a “loading” page when attempting to log in through a different environment like VMWare or MyPC. These environments have been known to cause issues when joining Zoom meetings. Make sure to launch the meeting from a modern browser on your desktop like Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.
